Carignan nominated to be next NATO committee chair
Carignan’s nomination was announced by Defence Minister David McGuinty on Wednesday, with the electoral process for the job to be held this fall.
The Carney government has nominated Canada’s Chief of the Defence Staff, Gen. Jennie Carignan, as the next chair of NATO’s Military Committee, a position that will become available next year.
The last time a Canadian held the role was in the early 2000s, when retired Gen. Ray Henault served as chair.
