Carney sucked Canadian voters in with his tough talk during the campaign, statements like"I am the only guy that can deal with, handle Trump and elbows up" was all talk. The problem is and was that people actually believed his lies and voted fro him. Trade deals with any agency be it another country or your car salesman are dependant on both parties benefitting from negotiating. In The case of Canada and the U S A both countries can benefit from negotiating a solution. Geographically no one can change anything unless both countries become one. This would not be a negotiable solution that would suit both countries and so a sane reasonable negotiated solution needs to be found. At present there must be give and take by both parties that benefit both countries or there will be no deal and everyone on both sides of the border will pay the price unfortunately. Trade is about everyone getting something not just specific parts of a country based on the abundance of voters that may take exception.
