A Canadian woman has been arrested on espionage allegations after working as an intern inside NATO’s top military headquarters, prompting fresh scrutiny over security at the heart of the Western military alliance.

Belgian federal prosecutors announced Saturday that the woman, described as “a Canadian citizen of Chinese origin,” is suspected of spying for an unnamed third country and participating in a criminal organization.
