Canadian dollar hit 14-month low, may bounce back by end of year

Even prior to the latest turn in trade negotiations, the loonie has been facing a tough year, down just over three per cent from January.

The Canadian dollar hit its lowest point in 14 months last week, nearing 70 cents on the American dollar as trade negotiations between the two countries appear to have gone cold.

The U.S. decided to walk away from CUSMA talks, sending the North American trade agreement into an annual review and unfamiliar territory.
