Sadly one of the many unintended consequences of voting for a fraudulent Party and fraudulent leadership. Neither the party nor its supposed "leadership" is in it for Canadians or Canada.
Instead it appears the dead opposite.
Force as many as possible into bare survival and possible poverty.
Allow food prices to get out of control at any and all levels.
Bring in millions of immigrants few of whom have any desire to do anything but suck at the public teet. Something the kills the housing market and drives up prices to levels that many now find to be an unaffordable pipe dream.
Then pretend to fix that but make sure your buddies at Brookfield and other insiders are the net beneficiaries of your attempt to convince people that living in a shipping container is a viable option.
... So.. Barely able to afford food, clothing and shelter and taxed to the point of extinction is it any wonder why charitable giving has now hit rock bottom.
This is a shame at so very many levels but that shame should be directed to where it belongs.
On the shoulders of the sock jerk, Carney and their incompetent trained seal MPs and back-room abominations.
.... However .....
On this Christmas Eve day ...
Wishing all a Merry Christmas.
Do the best you can Canada and perhaps when the opportunity comes...
Well said sir - one example of this in Calgary is I used to donate to our Food Bank. Well after visiting a few times to volunteer and seeing a LOT of new cars in the parking lot reserved for customers, and many of them LUXURY autos -- i decided to HE** with this!! Why should I drive a 10-15 year old beater and support people who are clearly doing just fine and milking the system! And yes, many of them were clearly from the Middle East. Just 'stealing' via our Albertan natural tendency to be kind.
I agree! After 10 yrs of wasteful and corrupt spending there isn’t much money left in the average Canadian budget. Seems our politicians have never heard of taking care of Canadians first! Our PM, a self proclaimed globalist elitist has no idea what the average Canadian is experiencing right now. With over 2 mil visits to the food bank you would think one of our Cabinet Ministers would notice. Guess they are all busy acquiring wealth.
Merry Christmas to you as well. I just left Canada but am hoping for a change in government. I’m ready to fight for Canadians but not willing to accept the present nonsensical regime. I’ll move back when Canadians wake up…hopefully it won’t be too late!
I have mentioned a few times I left Canada several months ago.
Saw the writing on the wall.
Fully agree but simply calling the fraud Carney and the Lieberals a nonsensical regime is way too kind.
They are doing this intentionally.
The weird sock moron kicked it off now the Proud European who has no intention of sticking around after he has finished Canada off conned enough ignorant fools to become PM.
But agreed...
If, perhaps, Canada can kick these idiots, fools and destructive morons out before all is lost and there is still something to save I have considered perhaps returning but sadly and by the day this looks like less and less of a possibility as I settle in where I am and am really enjoying not watching the country I love being destroyed from the inside.
Sadly Cathy... As I said... This has been and is intentional and is also being accomplished with the able assistance of complete buffoons like Ontario's Doug Fraud.
We shall see going forward but I suspect there will be no returning any time soon in whatever the foreseeable future holds for Canada under the fraud Carney and his incompetent but compliant cronies.
Most charities are now paying people to solicit donations on their behalf. We have decided not to give to these groups and instead give locally. Also the corruption in some of the charities is probably turning people off.
First of all I don't send money overseas because I don't know what army I will be inadvertently supporting. For local and regional, the tax break is not that great at all. I don't trust how most charities allocate dollars, though the local shelters are probably OK. It always stuns me how organizations target and scrape the money off of elderly low-income ladies.
You're better off giving a loonie or toonie to a local panhandler - how he or she will spend it is probably less iffy.
Another thing, volunteers are NEVER recognized by the government. They contribute time, energy, experience and good will to their endeavors, sometimes daily. Most charities just want the money, which tells you a lot. Donate to a charity with a healthy volunteer base. Most volunteers won't hang around if they see misuse of funds, is my thought.
Don’t paint all charities with the same brush. There is, I believe, a website that gives a breakdown of where the funds are allocated. Look for those where the administrative costs are no more than 10% or so of the funds received.
Sure. Almost any charity that has its base in Christianity. Like MCC, agencies like Union Gospel Mission, Salvation Army. There are lots more. Those who are high in administration costs are The United Way, Goodwill which had to change its name because of its bad reputation.
The United Way should change its name to "Offices on Bay Street for Executives to Virtue Signal while milking the population" Way. And if there was ever a charity that went DEI, its these bozos. They shouldn't even have charitable status given their anti Christian, anti white take on everything.
Well lets be honest about this: 1. the Liberals eliminated any tax reason to donate [so I cancelled ALL donations at that point], 2. prior to that we had many charities promoting DEI issues [which I firmly oppose and reduced donations across the board], 3. around the same time we had anti-Christian attitudes, pamphlets, emails, etc from charities and pro-Islam views were supported [which also reduced my giving]. I now give to ZERO charities. I give money to causes that aren't charitable - but ONLY ones that support things like free speech, pro-gun, pro-meritocracy, etc. F*** charities.
NOTE: As individual giving decreases, the government 'support' increases. Or is the inverse true: as government 'support' increases, so individual giving decreases. Time and again, the government takes over what has historically been the responsibility of the church or the local community, and being the most inefficient form of organization on earth, it often crowds out (or legally blocks) all alternatives.
The question: if we take the worlds largest ax to the government and dump every social support, will society return to giving to those organizations and fill in the gap, or are we too dependent on the government to make such a change?
Simple, most Canadians can not afford to be as charitable as we would like. TAXATION by wasteful, unfocused, corrupt governments is enough to break us down. All the people I know are worried for their own welfare in very uncomfortable ways. many are thinking of leaving or rioting.
Money that I used to donate to some charities is now going towards different organizations. The Defence Fund, Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedom, Rebels News, Juno News etc.. I am fighting for our freedom!
Why give to Charities that don't even recognize that the Experimental MRNA Gene Therapy injections are harmful? Or that blood may be contaminated by the Spike Proteins from the injections? Or spend so much money on their salaries and advertising that little money goes to the needy?
I wonder how much of this giving is tithing? With these very low numbers, it seems bizarre to me that the Liberals government would float the idea of taking income tax deductions away from faith-based funding.
I wonder if they're funding illegals or free drugs. In the 90s I gave to a charity that tried to get men off drugs, rehab, training - probably illegal now.
Not illegal, but the good programs will be receiving less funds from charitable giving. I, too, used to support one of these programs and had to cease due to economic reasons. And I know I’m not the only one.
The government wants to control everything so they don’t care, which means they don’t care about the people who need these services. Never mind all the funds being provided to “safe” supply and “safe” injection sites which would be much better spent on programs to provide real services.
The Salvation Army has a tremendous record for funds going to the people in need. I personally know that the Officers (pastors) do not make big salaries. The money you give in your community stays in your community. They help people without bias and are asked by governments to help during disasters because of their reputation. I will never give funds United Way, Red Cross. etc. because of their very poor records. And yes, as another has said, the more we are taxed, the less we can give so the government steps in and the more we are taxed. The government was never meant to facilitate charity, and they do it so poorly.
Show me. They have multi-racial pastors, are in countless countries doing tremendous work. Having been raised Salvation Army, having family members that are pastors, having worked with them on a professional level for 40 years, I have intimate knowledge of the people in the organization.
Found this..."It is true that in November 2021, The Salvation Army published a guidance pamphlet entitled "Let's Talk About Racism," in which it encouraged followers to think critically about individual and systemic racism, and to "Lament, repent and apologize for biases or racist ideologies held and actions committed." In response to a public backlash, the organization denied accusations that it believes donors should "apologize for their skin color" or that America is "inherently racist." However, it did withdraw the guide from distribution for "appropriate review" and clarification."
I do believe we all have a tendancy to be racists, ALL, not exclusively white people. And as a Christian we absolutley should repend if this is the case. I can see how this could easily be taken out of context and good on them for withdrawing it. Please note this was in 2021.
Scipture is also often misquoted and used to support a doctrine that was never intended.
In the end, we all answer to God and He alone knows our hearts and intentions.
Cannot find a thing online. If you are going to make these statements you need to be able to provide evidence. This is how good people get slandered. Look at what has been done to PP and Conservatives. Show me the proof.
Clearly you have something else going on. I do not see anything offensive in what was said. Because I do not know about something from the US over four years ago hardly disqualifies me from my stance on the credibility or honour of the Salvation Army. I pray you find relief from the bitterness in your life. I am also not about to debate you on how scripture is regularly taken out of context to support personal agendas. My conversation with you is at an end. I wish you a Merry Christmas.
I’m convinced that real Canadians who go to work every day are seen by their own government as nothing but a bunch of whining suckers. The source of a grand money laundering scheme that sucks about half Canada, land of the weak and home of shame.
Breakdown of Taxes Paid
The total tax burden includes a wide variety of "visible and hidden" taxes levied by federal, provincial, and municipal governments. For the average Canadian family with an income of $114,289 in 2024, the tax breakdown was as follows:
Income taxes: $15,085
Payroll & health taxes: $10,319
Sales taxes (GST/HST/PST): $6,812
Property taxes: $4,111
Profit taxes (on businesses, passed to consumers): $6,534
Liquor, tobacco, amusement & other excise taxes: $1,640
Fuel, motor vehicle license & carbon taxes: $1,470
Other taxes: $1,403
Natural resource taxes: $657
Import duties: $275
Total Taxes: $48,306 (42.3% of income)
The enemy is not Trump, but the Canadian government.
I donate blood - 150 donations to date. There is no tax receipt......I don't feel guilty when an organization asks for money. That way there is no "admin" or "overhead" costs. Once upon a time the donation was a TAX DEDUCTION. Then the Govt changed it to a "tax credit" where only a portion gets applied to the tax.
I stopped giving to normal charities like the cancer foundation , or the red cross or united way or a whole bunch of other ones when I found out about 9/11 and the medical mafia and the vaccine scam and the cancer industry stuff and the governments involvement in all this ... Now I just give money to local charities that I think are not just east Indian theft organizations, so it gets narrowed down a lot ... And I give money to people who are fighting all this evil bullshit , plus I don't have as much money since the covid shit ... And there's probably other people thinking along these lines too , or I hope there are
People do not trust the administration of charities the same way they question the government institutions. Way too much fraud around us. The Canadian culture has changed during the last two decades with many newcomers coming from places where charities are nonexistent. Many are hesitant to share their wealth. Perhaps that is the reality.
Sadly one of the many unintended consequences of voting for a fraudulent Party and fraudulent leadership. Neither the party nor its supposed "leadership" is in it for Canadians or Canada.

Make Better choices POLITICALLY.

The rest of us “can eat cake”!
Can't even afford the cake but don't tell the "Proud European" fraud who is now Canada's PM.
I kept wishing this new PM would be different. I should have known better. Dark days ahead for Canadians.
Merry Christmas Cathy...
... AND YES ....
... REMEMBER ....
It's always darkest before it goes completely black.
Merry Christmas to you as well. I just left Canada but am hoping for a change in government. I’m ready to fight for Canadians but not willing to accept the present nonsensical regime. I’ll move back when Canadians wake up…hopefully it won’t be too late!

So you're not a Christian. Interesting. Where do you donate. Can't wait to hear
There is a difference in being Christian and being STUPID!
Alot are both
I was attempting to say that Christian charities are the ones who have very low administrative costs. I can see my statement was ambiguous.
Yup. Gotta proofread. Would still like to know where your donation $$ go
about time people caught on to the Victim Scams. Heavy guilt and empathy parade is over.
