Canada’s economy shrank at the end of 2025, according to Statistics Canada, making it the only G7 nation to see its economy contract instead of grow.

Canada’s overall real gross domestic product (GDP) by expenditure shrank by an estimated 0.2 per cent in the last quarter of 2025, since quarter three of last year, according to a Statistics Canada study released Friday.
