Canada’s rate of new venture capital investment growth dropped to nearly zero for the first quarter of 2026, with only one transaction of $1 million, accounting for less than 0.2 per cent of quarterly capital.

According to the latest report from the Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association, the first three months of 2026 saw only one growth-stage deal.
