Canada Post is ringing the alarm for yet another taxpayer-funded bailout by early 2026, hot off the heels of a massive $541 million pre-tax loss in the third quarter—a record high.
It is past time, parcel up canada post in blocks, some parts good revenue generating, some, like rural, not high revenue generating, and sell them off to private concerns. Not one company will have a monopoly, all of canada will get good service. canada post is never gong function well, no reason, they are on the government handout.
Great idea to parcel it out in pieces - 'provincialize' it; here in the West we'll undoubtedly reorg it; mail delivery maybe once a week...parcels 2 days a week...break the union as postal delivery is not a high value proposition; or, per your thoughts - cut it up and sell it off!
Canada post needs a major overhaul starting at the top. There is absolutely no need for daily residential door service for flyers, time for community mailboxes throughout Canada, either that or reduce door to door services to once a week.
Get rid of Canada Post... Perhaps privatize it if a buyer can be found.
Put it into the same category as DEFUND THE CBC.
