Canadian governments handed more than $2 million in contracts to an Iranian ex-VP’s son despite national security concerns and allegations tying him to military projects and procurement benefiting the IRGC.
Mohammad Reza Ghafouri Fard, who does business as “Sal Ghafouri,” received more than $2 million in federal and provincial contracts through two Alberta companies, including from the RCMP and the Department of National Defence, according to records obtained by Global News.
Ghafouri, 45, is the son of Hassan Ghafouri Fard, a former Iranian vice-president and member of parliament.
