Calgary police have charged a 37-year-old man with two counts of sexual assault following a nearly three-year investigation that relied heavily on forensic DNA analysis.

Police allege the first assault occurred on July 23, 2023, between 1 and 2 a.m., in the 1200 block of Fourth Street S.W. Investigators say a woman was walking in the area when a man approached her and offered money in exchange for sex.

After the woman declined, police allege the man sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene.

Police arrested Gramey Weldeselsa, 37, of Calgary on April 15, 2026.
