Building permits drop by $1.1 billion despite federal promises

Only 21,000 multi-unit dwellings and 3,900 single-family dwellings were authorized for construction in February as the sector continues to struggle.

Canada’s construction sector continues to stagnate as the total number of building permits issued in the first quarter of the year fell by 8.4 per cent.

The latest data from Statistics Canada showed that the total value of building permits fell by $1.1 billion in February.
