Around 5:30 a.m., shots were fired at the U.S. consulate in Toronto, police announced in a post on X.
Media reports indicate bullet holes were visible in the building’s glass front door.
Police were called to the scene at University Avenue and Queen Street West and are currently investigating.
Toronto Police Service (TPS) stated there was evidence of a firearm discharge at the U.S. embassy and urged anyone with information about the incident to call police.
The incident follows an alarmsounded by Toronto police that the conflict in Iran could lead to violence in the city. It also comes afterthree synagogues were targeted with similar gunfire in five days.
