Less than 24 hours after insisting he wasn’t leaving the party and that its members had no legal avenue to force him to resign, John Rustad has resigned as leader.
John you did an excellent job bringing the conservative party to where they are today, I wish you well, your decision to resign as leader was a wise decision, hopefully the next leader can keep up the momentum, and gain the trust of voters that could replace this NDP government and put the province into a positive position fiscally not the present tax and spend disaster that exists at the present time!
Hopefully everyone will now get together and work as a team. Please remember that it is not necessary for everyone to agree on everything all the time but you must all keep moving in the right direction. Eby is really awful.
MLA Rustad made the conservative party of BC from just a name to the party it is today in a few short months . Some people have very short memories by the comments .
As a party member I praise him for the job he did , it was nothing short of amazing .
I have no idea what was/is going on within the party ranks , but it needs to stop or the party is going to fall apart and the ndp will remain in power . MLA Brodie and the others that left or were forced out was a huge mistake and needs to be repaired .
I can not think of any MLA that could replace John, but many probably want the chance .
My personal pick would be MLA Brodie . This woman is a fighter and that is exactly what the party needs now . I would hate to see a has been lib take over the party after their track record .
Well said! I agree that Ms Brodie would be a great choice. She left the party, though, and started her own. Maybe some like-minded MLAs could join her new party to make it more of a threat. We need to get the NDP and Eby out, by any means necessary.
You are still splitting the vote . Max did the same thing and look where that got him and the CPC as well . A split vote and you stay in the opposition bench .

Instead of being out on the streets garnishing membership, opposing the crooks in BC government that are supporting the Fentenyl business in the port of Vancouver. Instead of fighting for the betterment of our economy in terms of oil to tidewater, and pushing back against the so-called "Aboriginals" who seen to be actively attacking white citizens property rights.

John did a fine job putting the conservative banner on the map in B.C., however he went too far when he starts kicking elected MLAs with true conservative values out of caucus when they use freedom of speech to spell out their position on what matters to most.
I don't think the conservative party can find a better leader than Jon Rustad ... when Dallas Brodie reads out a motion in parliament nobody backs her up either... I suspect John Rustad is the victim of a bunch of backstabbers
One wonders, if Rustad’s leadership was as bad and divisive as we read about, and if truthfully so - why then were there a number of party members who did not sign the letter to oust him? What I read about and what is actually truthful these days is often hard to define! Rustad took this Conservative Party to high heights in a very short while. There’s a faint smell of corruption here, of things the NDP/Carney Libs wanted quietly put to bed, to not inhibit or interfere with their CCP politically inspired relationships, particularly Carney’s. One need only think back to last spring’s election corruption - behind the scenes fear mongering, the constant lying MSM.
John did a good job for the conservatives, he brought the conservatives to the forefront, but his liberal past and the infusion of the other liberals pre 2025 election was the beginning of the end for John. I cannot disrespect him, I do however, have much disrespect for all those liberals in the conservative party. I fear this change will not be the means to the end. The evil, lying, criminal Eby is likely going to take advantage of this and call an election, as his deceased predecessor had done. I also hope the BCone Party and the Conservatives can find a mature way forward, by dropping one of these parties. BC residents have proven to very stupid during an election, so minimizing choices at the ballot box can only be a good thing. Remember John Rustad did great work for the Conservative party, but it will be all for not if BC has too many choices at the ballot box. Most people need to realize this, your friends, family and neighbors are not the brightest bulb on the string...critical thinking is a rarity in today's society...so taking away choices for the vast majority of uneducated voters, can only be a good thing for BC.

Brodie has fresh ideas and solutions that are needed to tackle the Indigenous issues in this province... without the same old tired rhetoric.
