BREAKING: Leaders’ Debates Commission cancels post-debate media scrum
The Leaders’ Debates Commission has made a last minute decision to cancel the media scrum that was to follow the English-language leaders debate.
The Leaders’ Debates Commission has made a last minute decision to cancel the media scrum that was to follow the English-language leaders debate.
Debate organizers have confirmed with True North that the Commission has decided to cancel the post-debate media scrum. No official reason has been given for the cancellation at this time.
The scrum is an opportunity for reporters with accredited media outlets to take turns questioning the federal leaders. Each leader was afforded a 10 minute time period to take questions from the media.
Following Wednesday’s French-language leaders debate, the scrum went on without incident, with independent media outlets and legacy media outlets receiving several questions.
Canadian mainstream media outlets were not shy in voicing their frustrations with independent media seizing the opportunity to ask questions of the major federal party leaders.
The media centre—a large auditorium in the Maison Radio-Canada building in Montreal’s CBC headquarters—was already tense before the media scrum being cancelled, with at least one journalist engaging in a loud outburst and another journalist being removed from the building entirely.
This is a developing story that will be updated as more information comes in.
You can smell the fear...If the WEF Liberals are so far ahead in the polls, why are they so afraid of a few question from Independent Media??.. The highlight of the night was Carney asking Poilievre about his security clearance..and shut Carney down..Blanchett was pretty cool taking some funny swipes at Carney..Singh was his usual idiot self..an Carney looked like a cardboard cut-out..and not TOTALLY surprised about Carney telling his media to cancel the scrum..we're going down tmorro to put in Advance vote for Pierre. Thanks again to Candice, Juno, and True North for the incredible work you all do...GO BLUE..
Good and bad. On the one hand, hahaha to the msm lackies, who are losing their minds, that an independent, non partisan media would be allowed to pose non-softball, non-pre-approved questions to marx carney. The bad however is, that Canadian voters have been denied the opportunity to hear questions asked by independents, which the voters would like to get answers to. So the msm and effectively Elections Canada have once again screwed the Canadian populace.
