BREAKING: Juno News hires Rachel Gilmore as fact-checker
Rachel Gilmore knows Fake News better than anyone
On Wednesday morning, Juno News announced that after months of tough contract negotiations it had hired former Global News social media intern Rachel Gilmore as lead fact-checker.
Gilmore rose to prominence as a caricature of a woke activist masquerading as a journalist. She was fired from Global News in 2023 for being unprofessional and getting the facts wrong all the time.
She was then hired as a “fact-checker” by CTV during the 2025 federal election, but was quickly fired when CTV realized that nobody takes her seriously and she’s always wrong.
“I think our audience will really enjoy hate-watching Rachel,” said Juno News co-founder Keean Bexte.
“It will be fun to watch the comments section light up, since Rachel doesn’t allow comments on her social media posts,” added Candice Malcolm, co-founder of Juno News.
“I don’t think Rachel realizes that we’re hiring her ironically,” added Bexte, noting that Rachel seemed to confuse Juno News for the Juno Music awards because she kept talking about how she couldn’t wait to meet Nelly Furtado.
