The Conservative Party of British Columbia has had its fourth MLA leave caucus within a month under Kerry-Lynne Findlay’s leadership, though Findlay is focused on opening nominations to fill the recent vacancies, stating she’s focused on delivering results for voters, not “unnecessary political drama.”
Rosalyn Bird, who was first elected to the provincial legislature in the 2024 BC election under the BC Conservative banner, announced she will be sitting as an independent MLA for Prince George-Valemount rather than resign, on Tuesday.
A day later, Teresa Wat, who once sat as a BC United MLA before joining the party, has also turned coat and will sit as an Independent MLA in Richmond—Bridgeport.
Bird was among three MLAs identified by reporter Jas Johal as having been asked by Findlay to resign their seat so that the leader could run in a by-election.
