On the final day of the Supreme Court’s deadline for appeal, the federal government filed an appeal challenging the federal court’s landmark ruling against the federal government's use of the Emergencies Act during the 2022 Freedom Convoy.

The deadline, March 27, 2026, marks the end of the 60-day window set out under the Supreme Court Act for filing an application to appeal. By meeting the deadline, the Liberal government is reopening litigation on its use of the Emergencies Act.
