Bill C-22 compels Apple to store Canadians’ data for up to a year

The legislation would force telecommunications companies to store data on behalf of the government for up to 365 days without any evidence of a crime.

Conservatives continued to push back against the Liberals’ proposed Bill C-22, which would give the government the covert power to obtain personal user data from companies such as Apple.

The legislation would require telecommunications companies to retain data, including users’ location information, for up to 365 days without evidence of a crime.
