The incumbent BC NDP have launched an attack ad against the BC Conservatives, attempting to raise doubts about who would be the province's Premier if the Conservatives win, despite the party confirming Lorne Doerkson would become and remain Premier if BC Conservatives form government.
“Who would be premier if the Conservatives win? Nobody knows,” the ad reads. “The people who'll decide are the ones who gave you Kerry-Lynne Findlay.”
The meme shared by the NDP shows a fake job posting and claims that the job for “permanent leader of the BC Conservatives” will be hired by a committee of “far-right party members” who will decide the party’s real leader “after you vote on October 24.”
This comes despite the Conservative Party of British Columbia stating on Wednesday that Lorne Doerkson would remain the party’s leader should the BC Conservatives form government during the snap election.
British Columbian YouTuber and commentator J.J. McCoulough blasted the NDP ad as “breathtakingly shameless” given that Premier David Eby called the snap election just two days after the party lost their leader and subsequently elected an interim leader.
“Premier Eby calls an election TWO DAYS after the Conservative leader resigns, then campaigns on ‘oh the Conservatives don't have a leader! What a bunch of losers!’” he said in a post on X on Saturday. “In any case, the Conservatives have clearly stated their acting leader will be premier.”
The original post by the BC NDP received a “ratio” with 477 comments at the time of writing against just 92 likes.
Most of the comments were critical of the BC NDP and Eby.
