Dallas Brodie, interim leader and MLA for One BC, has initiated a private prosecution against Charlotte Kates. Kates is identified as a leader of a Palestinian activist group recently designated as a terrorist entity in Canada.

Kates co-founded Samidoun, designated a terrorist entity on October 15, 2025. This followed years of advocacy and a rally organized by the group at the Vancouver Art Gallery, where participants chanted “death to Canada” and burned the Canadian flag. Samidoun disputes the designation and claims it’s only a Palestinian solidarity organization.
