B.C. government sues OpenAI over Tumbler Ridge mass shooting

Only after the mass shooting that killed five children aged 11 to 13 did OpenAI alert the RCMP to the shooter's ChatGPT activity.

OpenAI is in British Columbia’s legal crosshairs after the province accused the AI giant of failing to alert police to school shooting threats before the February massacre at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School.

The province has enlisted Vancouver’s CFM Lawyers and California-based Stranch, Jennings & Garvey to explore every legal avenue to hold OpenAI and its decision-makers accountable.
