BC Conservatives kick MLA out of caucus due to domestic violence charges

A look at B.C. court records shows that Chan was charged with assault by choking and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm in relation to an alleged offence that took place in 2024.

Former BC Conservative MLA Hon-Sang Chan was kicked out of the party’s caucus on Thursday after multiple charges in relation to an alleged domestic violence incident came to light. Chan denies the allegations.

BC Conservative interim leader Trevor Halford announced that Chan had been removed from the Conservative Party of B.C. Caucus after Chan revealed the charges stemming from a 2024 incident to Halford on Wednesday.
