B.C. Conservative Leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay will face voters next month in a crucial byelection after six MLAs abandoned her caucus amid questions about her leadership and electability.
Premier David Eby has called the Abbotsford-Mission byelection for Sept. 26, setting up Findlay’s first opportunity to win a seat in the legislature since taking over the Conservatives in May.
Conservative MLA Reann Gasper announced last week that she would give up the seat to clear a path for Findlay.
“I have decided to step down and give Kerry-Lynne Findlay the opportunity to seek the nomination and run here in a by-election,” Gasper said.
