Can Indigenous land title and private property rights coexist in British Columbia? That’s the question posed to B.C. Conservative leadership hopefuls tonight at the Juno News debate in New Westminster.

During the debate, candidates were asked how they would balance Indigenous land claims and treaty rights with legal certainty for homeowners, businesses, and resource development.

The question centered on the future of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA) and the broader question of property rights across the province.
