Bank of Canada acknowledges disconnect between inflation data and daily experiences
“Many indicated that the consumer price index (CPI) did not align with their experience or with what they see when they shop," reads the central bank's report.
Consultations conducted by Canada’s central bank found a growing disconnect between inflation data and the actual price of goods.
According to the new report, trust in the Consumer Price Index has been diminishing due to official inflation data failing to mirror the daily experiences of Canadians, which by extension has eroded trust in the Bank of Canada.
