Auditor General slams Carney government over student visa fraud (with Brian Lilley)
Candice details the new AG report exposing massive fraud in our international student visa program, which found that 98% of fraud cases were dropped. Columnist Brian Lilley joins Candice to discuss.
On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice highlights the new Auditor General report exposing unbelievable fraud in our immigration and student visa system. The report found that 153,000 cases were flagged for fraud, but that the government didn’t have the resources or capacity to investigate these cases. Instead, 98.6% of fraudsters were not investigated and instead were simply allowed to stay in Canada.

This is so infuriating! Meanwhile, the CRA is going after Canadian citizens who get behind on filing income tax. A 68 year old friend of mine who lives on his monthly meagre Canadian pension recently had his bank account completely emptied because they said he owed back taxes. He had been making monthly payments yet they waited until his pension payment was deposited and took it all (over $10k). Then they locked him out of his CRA account (making it impossible to file the returns in question) and said they would continue to take his pension payments until he paid all arrears. When he tried reasoning with the agent that these measures make it impossible for him to solve the problem AND now he literally has nothing to live on, the response was “It’s not my problem”!!
What a country this has become 🤯😡
