Millions of dollars in foreign aid to Kenya have been linked to fraud following an audit of the Department of Foreign Affairs, which found that corruption was common practice due to “uneven regulatory enforcement.”
According to the Audit of Management Practices at Missions: Nairobi, the Embassy’s $12.5 million annual budget revealed “inconsistent application of established processes across programs which weakens overall control effectiveness and oversight reliability.”
