A new study confirms many Canadians' concerns that a once-renowned immigration system has skyrocketed, almost quadrupling annual immigration growth rates compared to before the Liberals took office, despite a year with much lower immigration due to COVID-19 lockdowns.
The Fraser Institute study, titled “Canada’s Changing Immigration Patterns, 2000-2024,” found that from 2000 to 2015, annual immigration averaged 617,800 people. The average number of newcomers to Canada more than doubled to 1.4 million annually from 2016 to 2024.
