Alto high-speed rail price tag rises to $150 billion with operating costs

While “Infrastructure capital” is estimated to cost around $90 billion, a briefing document listed two other expenditure categories: rolling stock and operating and maintenance.

The Alto high-speed rail line, which is intended to expedite travel from Toronto to Quebec City, is estimated to cost roughly $150 billion after the company has included its operational costs, far surpassing the initial estimate of $90 billion.

According to an internal document obtained by The Globe and Mail, the maintenance and operating expenses now sit at a significantly higher figure than what had previously been cited by federal officials.
