York Regional Police say they have charged a man following a series of threats directed specifically at women in a Markham park.
According to comments made on social media, 26-year-old Devante Dungy—of no fixed address—had become a familiar face in Fincham Park.
In a Tuesday media release, authorities say police responded to nine separate incidents between August 1 and September 18, 2025, in the area of Fincham and Larkin Avenues.
In each case, the suspect allegedly made threatening remarks and gestures toward women in the neighbourhood.
Police located the suspect on September 23 in the same area and took him into custody. At the time of his arrest, he was on probation and subject to a prohibition order stemming from unrelated incidents.
The suspect, identified as Dungy, has been charged with uttering threats, criminal harassment, failing to comply with a prohibition order, and four counts of failing to comply with probation.
Investigators have released a photo of Dungy, sporting a unique flat-top haircut, as they are urging anyone who may have additional information or who believes they may have been a victim to come forward.
“They caught the guy!” exclaimed one user on Reddit in response to the police’s announcement of Tuesday’s arrest.
It’s not clear what specific probation orders Dungy violated or if he has been released from custody.
