Alberta became a political cage match in 2025 as Premier Danielle Smith’s government faced down escalating crises over sovereignty, schools, crime, and the future of the province’s energy sector.
Isaac, you give a somewhat sanitized version of the MOU between Carney and Smith. No mention of the Pathways Project and the hugely expensive commitment to carbon capture and storage or of Carney's boast after the MOU was signed that the carbon price (it seems he meant the price on carbon credits) would be increased sixfold. From the evidence, it would seem that Smith believed that the Green Grifter is going to be the Canadian PM at least until 2029 and that this deal, obviously designed to line Carney's pockets, was about the best deal she could negotiate. Rather depressingly, she could be right.
You have to think that the MoU was not the best that Smith could have done and that Carney being (a well documented) Environmentalist that document was not going to be to Alberta's benefit as much as it was going to be to Carney's WEF, GLOBALIST agenda.
And again.. YES Andrew.
Your assessment on this agreement I sadly believe is the correct one but if Carney is indeed going to be in power until at least 2029 there will be little left in Canada to save and that includes Alberta.
Hopefully an overwhelming theme to get the H*LL out vote on Alberta's part will even send a wake-up call to tone deaf Carney.
If only because the majority of the money paid to Quebec to bribe them to continue to stay in the country they appear to despise comes from Alberta.
Conman like Putin, will be there until he dies of old age. We are under communism. There will be no change in government. The lieberals have busy making up laws and rules to keep them in power. The conservatives haven't got a hope in hell of ever being a government. But that's the way it goes when you have a communist regime in power.
There was no perfect solution but after a lot of due diligence found a place south in the US.
Far from perfect but smaller (around the size of the smaller Cities in Doug Fraud's OntArWeOwe).
Doesn't suffer from the BS of the big American cities nor their politics.
As I said.. Not perfect but everybody gets along and can talk about virtually any topic whether in agreement or not without taking offence at one another for having a different point of view.
I was lucky in that regard and also that I had the ability to get out of Canada without any problems.
OH...
And as a bonus the country actually has a document that most still value, that the courts uphold and that actually grants its citizens the rights of Free Speech (offensive or not) and other rights.
None of which seem to have any value any longer in what used to be Canada and to which it has a rather meaningless piece of paper it calls (euphemistically) its "Charter of Rights and Freedoms".
This while the Government and courts regularly say NOT SO MUCH.
Good for you William. I have an envy for your situation. The Charter of rights you mention isn't worth the paper it's written on. The liberals ignore it and do what ever pleases them. They even make laws that contradict that charter. So as a in good commie regime it has become useless. That was proven may times. For example, what they did to the Freedom Convoy people. Their rights were totally ignored, and they walked all over them.
Thanks for your comment, William, which started a thread. You may well be right that Smith didn't make the best deal she could have with Carney. It certainly isn't a very good deal for Albertans or for Canadians in general. Interesting that you walked your talk and escaped this Liberal dystopia. My wife and son made the same decision and went back to the Balkans, where they are from. I have thought of joining them, but will wait at least another year to see if power changes with a new election. Best wishes to you and your family for a wonderful year in 2026.
Nice highlight of those happenings, some that won't likely happen. The writer seems to be making light of some these happenings. The biggest one is the mou bs. That's a big fake action for a photo op. I guess. The conman has no intention of seeing that pipeline complete. What he actually did was con Premier Smith into agreeing to a multiple co2 hike and completion of carbon capture plant. Will see Alberta taxpayer big increases in cost of living. And still no pipeline. In the end the retail customer as always gets stuck paying the bill. I starting to think Smith drank the rainbow coolaide.

Not sure about that but also cannot say you are wrong.
I am watching now from Outside Canada and have little to no intention of returning there any time soon if ever.
Certainly if you are correct the "if ever" will be applicable.
In what part of the world are you existing?
Did a lot of homework.
