The Alberta government is hailing a new study as proof that taxpayer-funded drug consumption sites are failing to reduce overdose emergencies, directly contradicting the claims of harm reduction advocates.
A study released Tuesday by the Canadian Centre of Recovery Excellence (CORE) found that closing an overdose prevention site in Red Deer, Alberta, “did not result in increased deaths, emergency department visits or ambulance calls for site users.”
