The Alberta government is moving to tighten provincial oversight of its immigration system with a new bill focused heavily on verifying employers who hire foreign workers and cracking down on fraud.

On Wednesday, Jobs and Immigration Minister Joseph Schow announced Bill 26, the Immigration Oversight Act

The bill will introduce stricter requirements to ensure that only legitimate employers and licensed representatives can participate in bringing foreign workers into the province through the federal Labour Market Impact Assessment.
