I am of the opinion that all such traitors to their constituents as Mr. Ma is should immediately be forced into a by-election and not allowed to retain their seat without being properly elected to the party they have chosen to represent WITHOUT the consent of their voters. We're I in Ma's riding I would be furious at his betrayal of my vote and defection to the party I votes against. Disgusting behaviour on his part which shows how untrustworthy he is. He should be recalled immediately.

I would think, like so many Chinese Canadians, that there was "influence afoot." Sam Cooper documents these shadow efforts in Canada, and their timing should be a telltale. In the book "Under Assault," it is documented that there are literally "PRC advisors" who assist the politicians and bureaucrats with wise policy for better friendly governance. So was Mr. Ma given a healthy alternative to remaining conservative or siding with PRC-favored liberals? Did Mr. Ma receive a healthy alternative that would keep his family in China out of the camps?
If that is the case then there's all the more reason for Ma to be recalled. We're we to make such actions law in Canada - I,e, you cross the floor you are automatically ousted until re-elected in a by-election, the incentive for interference would be greatly curtailed. Get him OUT!
