Alberta taxpayers have been left with nearly $100 million in unpaid medical bills from non-residents over the past five years, according to new data released by SecondStreet.org, even as residents face longer wait times and worsening access to health care.

“Taxpayers shouldn’t be expected to provide free health care for tourists,” said SecondStreet.org President Colin Craig. “This problem has cost Alberta taxpayers nearly a hundred million dollars while many patients languish on waiting lists.”
