30 Canadians killed in flash flood along Nepal-Tibet border

The region has many steep valleys and corridors that are known to have had disastrous flooding and mudslides in the past.

Thirty Canadians are believed to have been killed in the flash floods which occurred along the border area of Nepal and Tibet on Wednesday that left at least 353 people dead and more than 1,300 missing.

Many who perished were foreigners who were passing through the area for trekking and guided tours as well as some who were partaking in a pilgrimage to a sacred Hindu site.
