What I am seeing from politicians in Canada is talk of retaliation. What's needed is discipline and patience.

Retaliatory tariffs will hurt Canadians. Here's a better long-term strategy:

1. Wait to see the actual effects of US tariffs

2. Prepare support for Cdn businesses accordingly

3. Transition trade beyond the US

4. Support Cdn businesses during transition

The details will be challenging, no doubt. But we need a sober, smart strategic response rather than immediate emotional satisfaction.

Hence, the need for discipline and patience.

Has Trump actually said what, specifically, it would take for tariffs to be lifted or is it just general nattering? He's breaking his own free trade deal...having said that it's not like we can do anything about it. I just hope people can critically think to the point that YES Trump is good for resetting some of the lunacy that has crept into society but NO Trump is not someone that can be trusted.
