Enough already with the BS and incompetence.

The technology to build water treatment and sewage disposal facilities pretty much anywhere that work and do not fail has existed for decades.

And yet for this location (and, I suspect others) they can never get things to work for long.

WHY???

Who is getting all these funds to build and maintain these??

Where is it actually going and why are the systems constantly failing??

Surely the answers can be had if there was any will on behalf of the Government to do so..

OH... WAIT...

Never mind.

That 50 million dollars a year works out to over 21 thousand per person. That's an insane amount.

It’s time for these reserves to pay to train their own people to be engineers or whatever else is needed on these reserves. Why does it appear as if they are just sitting there with their hands tied and not working with their own people to resolve these issues. Same could be said of the medical profession and school teachers and so much more.

After many generations of living on welfare, it's natural to expect handouts and everything done for you.

So sad. No wonder they have no purpose, no hope.

They need to get rid of this system and get involved in earning a living. This would require incentives of some sort to start. Even though they already have their no tax green cards.

They get more money this way

I ACKNOWLEDGE that our evil federal government long ago instituted a hierarchical chieftonship and gives all our tax money to a small elite minority of natives so that none of the money reaches the impoverished reserve populations so they have to constantly beg for more

a family friend has a friend who went to the north to set up and train the natives to maintain a water treatment plant. left all the info if they needed help or support....after a year it was left for scrap basically, and then the complaints come in....poor me, poor us.....

Guess buying casinos is more important than clean water

Perhaps our “astute” PM needs to instigate a thorough financial audit of this FN, as well as all those across the country! Their funds disappear down some rabbit hole like Carney “disappears” Canada’s funds!!

Yep, get to the bottom of this money give away. Also make everyone a Canadian . Nobody has any special rights . We are all on a level playing field then. But what do I know being a tax paying peon!

Hey Don….your comments mirror the belief of every Canadian…..we’re all Canadians! Yellow, Black, White, and all in between!!

Build them a new water treatment plant, set up their housing, then tell them it's theirs. We're done, no more money. Want to keep a water treatment plant? We taught you how, but if you don't look after it don't come calling to us again. Ever.

It appears to me that there is a lack of engineering. You never build in flood plains, unless you live in a teepee. As living in one it is easy to move to higher ground. For the engineering departments sake, a house is to heavy and awkward to pickup and move out of the way of flood time. Maybe they should have hired a farmer to do the planning, he would have made them build on higher ground. The natives must be like the fed. liberals, clueless.

Sam Kinison explained this back in the 80s:

Townspeople decided to break the treatment plant again so they didn't have to spend another winter in that hell hole.
