12-year-old boy charged with attempted murder
A 12-year-old boy, who was out on conditional release for prior violent offenses, has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting in the Toronto area last month.
A 12-year-old boy, who was out on conditional release for prior violent offenses, has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting in the Toronto area last month.
In a Wednesday media release, A 12-year-old Toronto boy faces several charges, including attempted murder, after a shooting in Markham on Aug. 14.
York Regional Police say the boy, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was already out on bail for unrelated violent offences when the shooting occurred.
A man was found at the scene with gunshot wounds and taken to hospital.
Chief Jim MacSween said the case highlights concerns about bail policies.
“Once again, we're seeing individuals released on bail involved in serious crimes within our community,” MacSween said.
“We must advocate for legislative measures which ensure violent and repeat offenders are kept off the streets, while also focusing on rehabilitating our youth, to ensure public safety, to protect our officers and to maintain public confidence.”
The investigation remains ongoing.

According to Chief Jim MacSween, victims should just, "comply" with criminals behavor against you. I would bet that this "12 year old boy" has parents who are themselves criminals or miscreants and nothing but a burden to our social, legal system and society...."The apple doesnt fall far from the tree".... STOP THE INSANITY!!!! This child should be in school....although even that institute is getting f'd up. Hope his parents don't have more kids. Didn't do a very good job with this one. Oh wait...the judge thought he had a bad childhood and should get a break. Ya right
