Conservative MP for North Island–Powell River, Aaron Gunn, says he believes David Eby is going to face a very tough challenge against the BC Conservatives in the upcoming provincial snap election.

Aaron Gunn said that he believes Eby is one of the worst Premiers in the history of Canada and that the NDP will do everything they can to avoid having to campaign on their own record.

Gunn says that provincial policies on blocking pipelines, SOGI, DRIPA and radical drug decriminalization have weakened BC over the last 10 years and that a strong Canada requires a strong province of British Columbia.

Gunn also confirmed on Ratio'd with Harrison Faulkner that he will be on the ground alongside other Conservative MPs campaigning in British Columbia on behalf of the BC Conservative Party.

Did Ford torpedo the Canada-U.S. trade deal?

Prime Minister Mark Carney is denying reports that Ontario Premier Doug Ford effectively vetoed a proposed Canada-U.S. trade deal last month. Carney says trade decisions rest with the federal government and that the agreement collapsed because of several serious issues, including language and cultural protections, Canadian sovereignty, and restrictions on future trade negotiations.

The National Post has reported a different account, claiming Ford privately opposed key elements of the proposed agreement. According to that reporting, Ford objected to restoring U.S. wine and spirits to Ontario store shelves and opposed any deal that would leave tariffs on Canadian auto exports.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has meanwhile criticized Canada’s approach, arguing that the economic imbalance between the two countries makes a prolonged trade confrontation particularly damaging for Canada.

University of Toronto economics professor Joseph Steinberg tells Marc Patrone it is difficult to determine exactly what happened because neither side has released the full text of the proposed agreement. He noted that Ford’s position on the alcohol embargo could have complicated negotiations, while emphasizing that there is not enough public information to conclude that Carney was being dishonest.

This includes waterfront property, at least two national parks, Royal Roads University and Hatley Castle. As B.C. MLA Steve Kooner describes it, this is the radical land back agenda in full force.

Kooner says the B.C. government has already given away approximately 334,000 acres of public land, with virtually no public say in the process. He argues that the government needs to halt the land transfers and increase transparency around negotiations so British Columbians can understand what is at stake.

But the bigger question is simple: what happens to public Crown land once it is in the possession of First Nations communities?

Harrison Faulkner says this is the natural next step from land acknowledgements. First it was just proclaiming that the land belonged to First Nations. But now the radical left is actually just giving it to them.

Canada ramps up deportations of illegal immigrants

Data shows that Canada Border Services agents are setting new records for deportations across Canada, as a visible increase in raids and document checks are now occurring. Images of a CBSA raid at an international student protest in Calgary, Alberta, on Wednesday indicate that Canada is beginning to take a more serious and more visible approach to removals.

As of June 30, CBSA records show that over 10k deportations have already occurred in Canada, happening at a rate of 400 per week. Last year, Canada deported over 23,000 people.

Being in Canada on a temporary visa means exactly that: temporary. No one was promised permanent residency, and protesting, demanding extensions, or framing the country as stolen land does not create one. The political sympathy these students once enjoyed has evaporated.

Document checks at these gatherings are not persecution or “Trump-style thuggery” — they are simply how a country determines who still has legal status and who does not. Hunger strike or not, the rules still apply.

Many of these students were clearly misled by shady consultants and marginal colleges. That does not change the fact that they signed temporary visas knowing the terms, and that the real goal for most was never education but a pathway to stay and eventually sponsor extended family. Living here without status only leaves them vulnerable to exploitation. For both their own sake and Canada’s, the clearer path is to go home when the visa ends.

The era of open-ended tolerance for expired status is closing, and that is long overdue.
